About Founder & Head Trainer

Päivi Kuusela was born in Taiwan, where she spent a significant amount of her childhood. Due to having been born into the intersection of different cultural worlds, she, together with the support of the deep company networks, is able to create stepping stones for others making the transition among them. She is a cultural bridge builder and  enjoys connecting people! 

Päivi has worked as a language and culture trainer for over ten years, training Finnish, English and Mandarin Chinese. She has also worked in the travel industry as a tour guide and translator since 2001 and is a certified Suomenlinna UNESCO world heritage site guide. 

She holds a degree in International Relations from the University of Helsinki, and also holds a diploma in Marketing & Management in China from the Helsinki Marketing Institute. In 2015 she received certification in Advanced Intercultural Management from the University of Notre Dame Mendoza School of Business (USA).

  • Cultural and/or language training (Finnish/Mandarin Chinese via GMS Language Services and AAC Global) for executive and manager level clients at ABB, NOKIA, ROVIO, TIETO, Stora Enso, Green Stream Networks, American Embassy Helsinki 
  • Chinese-language research assistant for Aalto University Center for Markets in Transition (CEMAT) Asia team 2008
  • Since 2001, project-based translation/guide work. Clients have included but are not limited to Lóreal, Kiasma Museum of Modern Art, Espoo Cultural Center, Koneteollisuus Oy, China National Track & Field Team (Helsinki World Championships in Athletics 2005)
